The Art of Leadership

A six-month programme that goes beyond leadership skills — helping you lead yourself, your teams, and your life with greater clarity and intention.

Six months Two residentials One-to-one coaching Community of practice
Because when leadership begins with ourselves, everything else follows

What if the most important leadership move you ever make… starts with you?

We turn traditional “steer the ship” leadership models on their head. Here you’ll discover a more intentional, sustainable and impactful way of leading. Our clients describe this experience as “life-changing” for their work, relationships and the outcomes they seek.

At The Cause Effect, we invite you to see that who we are, how we relate and how we lead are all made up of the many pieces of ourselves. We are the architect of our mood, emotions, actions and leadership — and therefore, we don’t see things just as they are, we see things mostly as we are.

Stepping away from your autopilot, you will be invited to think very differently about your leadership — and in the process, you will also discover a new recipe for living.

“Hands-down the feedback from across this whole leadership team is that this coaching programme has been outstanding.”

Is this for you?

Who is this programme for?

  • You want your life, work and leadership to be more meaningful and have your best impact.
  • You are a successful leader but feel as though there is something missing.
  • You are quietly asking yourself deep questions about your energy, wellbeing, relationships or alignment to purpose.
  • You are open to self-discovery and reflection, feel a responsibility for how you show up, and are curious to understand how your inner world shapes your outer impact.

“I really can’t believe I didn’t see life and leading within it, like this before.”

What you will gain

What our participants say

The programme combines evidence-based leadership development with the support of a community of practice alongside you. The shift: from managing others to leading yourself and your impact.

  • Being less reactive, more intentional — ‘stepping back’ from unconsciously projecting stress.
  • Noticing resilience because I am leading consciously with energy, not exhaustion.
  • Listening more deeply to emotional patterns in myself and others, bringing balance and connection.
  • Communicating more clearly and showing up with more genuine intention for my relationships.
  • Ownership and responsibility for myself and my impact.

“The science content was very surprising. This insight into leadership in the body was very unexpected and inspiring. There are many layers to this work, and you need to give it space and time.”

For organisations

What organisations gain

The Art of Leadership Programme speaks to a deep requirement to invest in leaders so that they and the organisations they lead within can thrive.

If you seek leaders who can build cultures of alignment, integration and performance — people who take responsibility for themselves and create a multiplier effect with all others — then this programme is for you.

Talk to us about your team
“The whole idea that conflict can be healthy and lead to much greater solutions, and stronger and deeper bonds, has honestly changed my life.”
“Collaboration and performance has significantly increased; we have gained valuable insights in how to interact more harmoniously.”
“Relationships have deepened. It feels like we are more comfortable to not just work on the challenges and growth of our business, but to be open about who we are and how we feel. This has fostered a great deal of trust. We are much better at storming where issues are now raised naturally and in a timely way.”

Ruth Baily

Founder — The Cause Effect

“A career in people and change consulting has profoundly shaped my views on leadership, performance and impact. I felt there must be a better way.

Frustrated that traditional leadership development significantly overlooked the very thing that makes great leadership possible — genuine human connection, with ourselves and others — I set out to build something completely different.”

The art of leading ourselves…

‘The Art of Leadership’ is inspired by the hundreds of leaders we have supported to develop greater self-understanding, resilience, wellbeing, purpose and impact. This is what we call ‘the cause effect’. Finding ways to help more people uncover their cause effect is my deepest passion.

About

We are The Cause Effect

Thoughtful, human, and kind.

Our team is made up of people from all walks of life — a jigsaw of entrepreneurs, strategists, coaches, engineers, chefs, designers, teachers, artists, grafters, and above all, folk who believe in making things better.

These brilliant people are handpicked for our leadership programmes, retreats and team coaching because of their inspiration and drive to help clients find their route to performance. We curate spaces where serious fun and real transformation go hand in hand — and we don’t shy away from the full complexity of life, work, families, and the messy, uncertain, ever-changing world of work. We hold all of it.

Everything we do is based on years of experience while learning from the very latest in psychology and neuroscience. We make room for leading ourselves and others in a different way — because how we lead should make things better.
